Meet the Pack

Adele Harrison B.V.M.S. M.R.C.V.S.
Hi everyone and thank you for visiting my new page for Sit and Stay Dog Training! My name is Adele Harrison and I've been qualified as a Vet for 22 years and working in Durham for the last 15 years.
What can I tell you about me?
My passions are dogs, dog training and dog behaviour and I've been training dogs and competing in agility for over 10 years now. My interest in behaviour started when I rescued my first dog, Millie, from the SSPCA when I lived in Scotland. Millie was a young border collie who hadn't had the best start in life and came complete with several challenging behaviours - fear-based aggression, intense noise phobia, absolutely zero recall (she would head for the horizon if she got out!) and a tendency to dig through walls! 😬 Perfect for a first time dog owner! 😂
I got my next dog a couple of years later and faced a whole new set of challenges- Ciarrai was my heart-dog, but not right away. I really struggled with training her, she didn't seem to understand what I wanted at all and I felt completely out of my depth until I received a gift of some tickets to a Mary Ray Cabaret night. This was my first introduction to clicker training and the concept of a positive marker changed my life. I went home equipped with my clicker and target stick and suddenly Ciarrai and I were unstoppable!
Since then I have trained several dogs to compete in agility (Maya reached championship level), overcome Maya's severe reactivity issues with other dogs and I'm now competing in agility with my border beardie cross, Harley, and training my own Assistance Dog, Steele.
I was diagnosed with Autism in 2023 and since then I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, hypermobile EDS, I'm being investigated for POT's and ADHD currently. After my autism diagnosis I decided to train myself an Assistance Dog to help with my social anxiety and signed up with Adolescent Dogs who have become my new family. I decided at that point that I wanted to give something back to the disabled community and started to offer free veterinary advice to the Adolescent Dogs community and then applied to become a residential dog trainer for them in February 2025.
I'm continuing to follow my passions by studying to become a Veterinary Behaviourist and have decided to offer my own dog training services in County Durham. Currently I offer tailored 121's to help overcome any training challenges you and your furry friends may be having, a walk-and-train service where I will collect your dog and take them for an hours walk and focus on any areas of training you would like to improve - whether it be walking nicely on a lead or a snappy recall to settling in a café while you enjoy a hot drink, just let me know!
I also offer 121's to help with training Assistance Dogs with tasks or any aspect of their job and Temperament Assessments to establish their suitability for assistance work.
